However you choose to show your support, the children and families who benefit from the Cottage’s programs will be most grateful. Ways to Make a Donation
Cash – The Children's Cottage Society benefits immediately from cash donations. You can choose to donate a one-time gift, a pledge over several months or monthly credit card donations. It’s all appreciated!
Monthly Donor - Sign up to become a monthly donor. Donate any amount you wish. (ex: $20/month will sponsor one child's stay at the Crisis Nursery) Donations are deducted monthly and you will receive a consolidated tax receipt at the end of the giving year. Simply fill out this form and fax to (403) 283-4393 or email to fundraising@childrenscottage.ab.ca
In Honour or In Memoriam gift – honour a special person with a tribute gift in their name. Donations can be made in recognition of a loved one and a special thank you letter will be sent to the person of your choosing, recognizing your generosity. To make this type of donation, you can do so online and simply enter the honorees name and address you would like the acknowledgement sent to in the comments field.
Stocks and Securities – As of May 2006, the Capital Gains Tax has been eliminated on the donation of appreciated securities to charities. If you are a donor wishing to donate through a stock transfer process, you may be eligible to receive significant tax benefits. The taxable portion of the capital gain has recently been reduced to 0 from the 50% you would normally pay if you sold the stock yourself and donated the resulting cash to a charity. To be eligible, the securities must be given directly to the charity, not cashed first!!
Flow-through shares are an excellent way to take advantage of tax savings while still making a contribution to the Cottage. Additional information can be found at http://www.rsmrichter.com/highlight.aspx?ID=64 or contact your Financial Advisor for additional information.
