Quick Facts

Since opening its doors in 1986 as a Crisis Nursery only, the Cottage has developed into a multi-service facility. Today, the Society offers four unique programs to the community including:

  • Crisis nursery – a 24 hour, 365 day per year shelter for children newborn to age eight. Parents can leave their children at the nursery for up to 72 hours during periods when they need to deal with a family crisis. Twelve beds are available for children at no charge to the family.
  • Community Respite Program – volunteer daycares and day homes partner with the Society to provide temporary daytime and overnight care for children. An In-home Infant Respite Program provides support in a family’s home to assist with newborns and their siblings up to the age of six months.
  • Healthy Families – provides opportunities for families to build on their strengths. In Home Visitors will help parents through regular visits, education and referrals.
  • Brenda's House - provides a 14 bedroom shelter and support program for families currently experiencing homelessness.
